Reference section:

Lithology and Thickness

(80 m) in the most complete sections has a three-member structure. The lower part of the suite (Bailtam member), with a thickness of 5-20 m, is composed of dark and podzolic gray, sometimes with a reddish tint, finely layered slaty sandy limestones and calcareous sandstones. The middle part of the suite (Taldykol member (талдыкольская толща), with a thickness of 20 m, is composed of variously pebbly, including boulders, limestone conglomerates and conglomerate breccias with beds and packets of finely layered slaty limestones, marls, and clay shales. The upper part of the suite (Zuogansky member (зоуганская толща)), with a thickness of 40 m, is composed of dark and light gray finely layered slaty limestones.

Lithology Pattern:
Sandy limestone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Bailtam member of the section is universally distinguished above the tuffaceous Upper Permian rocks (Takhtabulak Fm (тахтабулакской свиты).

Taldykol member lies unconformably on the previous member.

Upper contact

Bailtam member below the first horizon of limestone conglomerates of the overlying lower Triassic member.

Regional extent

It is widespread in the Southeast Pamir.
